400 WIDOWS IN IFAKO-IJAIYE EMPOWERED WITH HEALTH INSURANCE SCHEME*

…improved healthcare for the society

Long life and good health is a function of functional operational modules of the government and to ensure that everyone in Ifako-Ijaiye Local Government partake in the compulsory health insurance scheme of Lagos State as promulgated into law and signed by the Executive Governor of Lagos State, Mr Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, Hon. Adewale Temitope Adedeji who represents the wonderful people of Ifako-Ijaiye Constituency 01 at the Lagos State House of Assembly undertook the ATA Health Initiative for the medical wellbeing of the constituents.

Health is wealth, now we are making health care more accessible at no cost for our people so to increase the wealth of our people.

We have focused on the elderlies, widows and retirees in the community to ensure that the weakest in the society are not left behind, said Hon. Adewale.

The health insurance scheme under the Lagos State Health Insurance Scheme and also in partnership with Careclick will see to providing all medical needs for all beneficiaries without them paying a dime.

The three day program commenced with provision of 400 health insurance scheme card, another 500 persons will have free medical checkups and free medical services at no cost to them and the third day will be for those who need optical care as opticians would be available to conduct eye checkup and make recommendations of necessary care and the supply of eye glasses (Jigi-Jah) for those who need them.

The host, Hon. Temitope Adewale used the same opportunity to inform the Hon. Commissioner for Health, Professor Akin Abayomi on the need to upgrade the 3 moribund PHCs out of 5 in the local government. He also mentioned the available land for construction of another PHC in Old Ifako (Ward C1) area of the Council.

Prof. Akin Abayomi, The Commissioner for Health was full of praise to Hon. Adewale for the lofty initiative at providing health insurance for the people and promised to address all concerns raised by Hon. Temitope Adewale.

The event was climaxed with the presentation of the health insurance cards to beneficiaries who were filled with great joy and happiness with the assurance that their health will not be an issue anymore.

Present at the event amongst others are the Executive Team of Ifako-Ijaiye LGA led by the Chairman, Prince Usman Akanbi Hamzat, the Legislative Arm led by Hon. Victor Onifade, Medical Director/CEO of Ifako-Ijaiye General Hospital, Dr. S. Bamidele Mustapha; GM LSHMA, Dr. Emmanuella Zamba; the CEO of CareClick Clinic, Mr Diran Abidakun, Oba-elect of Iju Ogundimu, Prince Matthew Gbolahan Ogundimu, the CDC Chairman, Pastor Samuel Opajobi, APC Ifako-Ijaiye Chairman, Deacon Banjo Omole amongst many others.
