Lagos Island Local Government, through the department of Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation (WAPA), led by the Supervisor for WAPA, Mrs. Olayinka Bamgbade along with the HOD, Mrs. Wunmi Jinadu had on Tuesday 14th June, 2022, graduated a select number of adult skill acquisitors in the act of polythene (nylon) bag production.
The three (3) weeks skills acquisition and empowerment program had the participants trained by a facilitator who took them through the nitty gritty of the polythene manufacturing processes.

The Chairman Lagos Island Local Government, Hon. (Prince) Tijani Adetoyese Olusi, who was ably represented by the Vice Chairman, Hon. (Prince) Moh’d Rosul Eshinlokun, admonished the trainees to make good use of the opportunity bestowed unto them, stating that the Mayor Adetoyese Olusi administration is massively interested in skills acquisition and women empowerment.
In her address, the Supervisor for women affairs and poverty alleviation (WAPA), Mrs. Yinka Bamgbade advised the participants not to forget what they learnt in the class. She urged them to start from the beginning, and with hard work and dedication, they will surely make it in no time.
She added that the training is going to be a quarterly program, emphasizing that the administration will not be sharing money but instead, will train people in different skills to be able to fend for themselves.
She appreciated all the people that took time out to attend the program, from the Vice Chairman, The Council Manager, SLG, Co-Excos, HoDs, the Local government praise singers and the teeming youth.
