The presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Bola Tinubu has taken a jab at naysayers following his landslide victory in the party’s primaries.
The former governor of Lagos State garnered 1,271 votes, eclipsing the others as Rotimi Amaechi came in second with 316 votes.
Speaking after he was officially declared the winner of the exercise which ended on Wednesday, Tinubu addressed those he said were already building the coffin of the APC.
Declaring that the party is still alive, he reminded all present of the success of the convention which he said naysayers boasted would not take place.
Using an analogy of a cat lying down, the national leader of the party stated unequivocally that the party was poised to “destroy its enemies”.
“Shame on those who were already building the coffin of APC. Shame on them. Our party is alive. [Mimicking naysayers] They won’t be able to do the convention. Here we are, the first convention…
“The governors put themselves, the party leaders and many other leaders, we worked hard. We did break our backs.
We are here, very happy, confident, and courageous to tell you that the cat that lies down quietly is not a protection of death but breathing of the energy to devour its enemies”, part of his speech reads.
