NYSC Ends Orientation Camp Activities Nationwide Over Coronavirus Fears

NYSC suspends camp activities nationwide: The Federal Government has ended all camp activities of the National Youth Service Corps across the country over fears of Coronavirus.

Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Sunday Dare, said this during a briefing with President Buhari, and minister of state for Health, Olorunimbe Mamoraso, in a bid to contain the spread of the virus.

He said that NYSC members would be released to resume at their places of primary assignment.
“Today across the country, the NYSC Orientation camps will be closed and Youth Corpers will be paid and sent to their places of primary assignment.
“This again is a precautionary measure on the part of the government to check the spread of COVID-19. The DG NYSC will provide details,” he tweeted.

The 2020 Batch A Stream One orientation camp began on March 4 and was slated to end on March 29.

On the part of the corps members, they said they were surprised when they were told to pack their belongings and leave the orientation camps.

They said the closure was to take precautionary measures over the coronavirus’’. Some corps members stated.
Some of them said their deployment letters were given to them early Wednesday morning.

Nigeria has confirmed three cases of Convid-19 but no deaths have been recorded.
